stuff, then new extra-fresh stuff on the work front.

Saturday the headboard and nightstand we ordered 5 months ago was finally delivered!  We have a big-kid bedroom now.

While waiting for said furnishings, we broke down and finally cleaned out the pantry.  Some back-story:  a month or so ago we found some flying bugs in the pantry.  No biggie, right?  Well, said bugs multiplied and their little maggots infested many of the foodstuffs in our pantry.  3 full-sized lawn garbage bags and 6 hours later (I have a huge walk-in panty - the washer and dryer are also located there) the pantry was habitable.  We've only found a few rouge bugs and a handful of larva since the clean-out, so I think we're good to go.  At least, I hope so.  Yuck.

One of my Grand Plans was to cancel cable, and just download BSG from iTunes.  Of course, season 3 premier hasn't been put up on iTunes yet, and I'm going completely nuts.  SciFi channel, please stop fucking with me and just let me download BSG.  Love, Stacky.

On our vacation I lost 2lbs and about 1.5" around my middle.  Sweet.

Last week back at work was just depressing.  It's the down side to vacations, I suppose.

Dude.  Co-worker and boss just had a little discussion that turned into something of an argument.  I hate being present for that kind of thing (she and I share an office).

The end of this week is going to suck.  I get to work Thursday night and Friday night to move servers over to a new fiber fabric for our new SAN.  Feh.  I just love working Friday nights.

*sigh* users....."we need an alert when the CPU gets busy!"  then "we need to shut down that alert between 11pm-5am!"  You people don't know what you want.

After a trip to my data center (1 hour rount-trip) I come back to find my co-worker has gotten a sweet job offer elsewhere and is going to take it.  This is not unexpected.  Things are about to get waaay more interesting here - I am nowhere close to the level of expertise that she is on Tivoli, as well as on other systems.  This is either going to make me a star, or kill me.  I'm very nervous about the future.

We had those thingies, too by georgeha (4.00 / 1) #2 Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 11:40:59 AM EST
Now we put everything in zip locks if we don't think they're already hermetically sealed.

I hear you on the depressing work thing, we're all waiting for the shoe to drop.

they ate thru the zip-locs by StackyMcRacky (2.00 / 0) #3 Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 11:48:25 AM EST
or some of the bags were just so old, they got holes in them.

overall, I see my workplace improving in the next few months.  However, without this co-worker it will be really rough for me.  I'll be able to handle the regular systems just fine....I'm just worried about Tivoli (TSM - backups).  She was the admin, and has been since they got the system in.  I've only been assisting her for a few months now, and haven't even scratched the surface on how to do all kinds of things.

...to spend a saturday, but whatever.  at least it's done and there is less crap in there.

and remember honey, you put the panties in the dryer not the other way around.  that might explain some of our laundry upsets of late.

i'll put that on the white board for you.

Are you migrating server shares?  Are they Windows?

If so, PM me!

yes, new SAN! by StackyMcRacky (2.00 / 0) #16 Mon Oct 09, 2006 at 02:06:41 PM EST
We will be migrating the server shares, and some of them will be winders.  I will PM you.

We're migrating off of our old IBM F20 and varioud EMC's to a new centralized DS8100 (IBM).

Broken in the new headboard yet?

Something wrong with bittorrent? by Gully Foyle (2.00 / 0) #22 Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 03:59:22 AM EST
Eps 1 & 2 of Galactica season 3. We're about a season behind in soviet UKia. Can't get it from iTunes, can't even get the Resistance webisodes from scifi.com. Yay piracy!

i'd have to make an effort by StackyMcRacky (2.00 / 0) #25 Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 09:09:11 AM EST
since i don't have any torrent stuff set up.

plus, i just wanted to whine.  isn't that what the internet is for?

i figure i'll have to hit the torrents this weekend (too busy the rest of this week to even watch)

Dear Mrs. Clock by Improbus (2.00 / 0) #26 Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 02:00:45 PM EST
You need to setup your bittorrent system like I have mine setup.  I run utorrent at home with it's new webui interface.  I can now add torrents to my home system from work using a browser and when I get home my downloads are ready to go.  Of course it helps if you have a static IP and a domain name.  Qua'Pla!

besides, i don't have time to watch said shows until the weekend anyway.  i'll do it then.

after i whine more, of course.

since when did you people become so anti-whine?
