Subtitled Attention Linux Infidels...

Let's see... Friday, I saw BSG. I don't care what the rest of you though about its message, it was pretty fucking cool. Sure there are parallels with current geo-political events, but nothing that's not similar to any other way in the last 100 years or more. As long as they don't stay with this tack too long (half the season or more) it's cool. Quit yer proverbial bitchin'. It's just a TV show. Admittedly, it's an awesome TV show, but a show none the less...

Saturday, Welsh Girl and I went to the wedding of the friend of some friends. The actual ceremony was short, the food was good and the company was lovely. Of particular note was the groom's cake...

Yes, that IS Tux the Penguin. Boy did I have to explain that one to more than a few people but I guess his geek cred is fairly cemented with that one.

While Welsh Girl babysat for Roommate Girl and her boyfriend (who I shall have to name one day since he's an old friend of Welsh Girl's and keeps showing up in this narrative), I went and saw Stretford's reunion show. Even after 6 years they're still awesome. Hell, half the room was people I used to see at the shows when they were still playing. Sure, they weren't as tight as they used to be since they haven't been playing for 6 years, but I swear I haven't balled my fist in the air in the pure enjoyment of a show in a very, very long time. I love pulling one of the mics and singing backup for those guys... This one was only a benefit but maybe, since most of the are still in town, they'll have the occasional reunion show more often... :)

Sunday was spent recuperating from Saturday. That and I had a birthday party to attend at the Compound. Food was eaten. Crappy movies (this one starring Corey Haim without Corey Feldman) were viewed and appropriately mocked. I got a chance to see the demo of 40K: Dawn of Chaos. The Tau have potential and I look forward to the other units being introduced for the other armies.

Lastly, today, we celebrate the traditional holiday devoted to Christoforo Colombo, the European who discovered the Americas (despite the fact the Vikings were probably here first and the Chinese mapped the coasts of North and South America). Because Constantinople fell and Venetians were dicks, we celebrate with sales all over the retail community. What a legacy he has brought us! Slavery! Disease!! SAVINGS!!! Truly an Italio-Spano-Hispano-American Icon... Or some kind of crap like that.

That is all.
