Latest news from 2001: Bob Dylan's second-to-newest album, "'Love and Theft'", is one fine piece of work. Possibly the best album released in the decade to date.
I just watched part 1 of "No Direction Home", and that Bob Dylan, he's, like, the man, or something.
So, now that I've added my "+1!!! AOL!!!!" to 40 years of contemporary music criticism, what am I doing? Mostly nothing useful. I've taken to playing a lot of harmonica since I finished my last MFC entry. (Nobody I've played it for has been too thrilled by it, but it is--by far--the best solo performance that I've ever done.)
Right now, I have a big chromatic harmonica in Bb that I looted from my parents' house (where they have a huge bin of instruments that my late grandfather used to keep at his house), a cheap beginner's harmonica that I bought for my kids a few years ago, and a nice new Hohner Special 20 in G. Now, I just need 9 more to make a complete set. Or 10, since the chromatic one won't fit in my harmonica holder, and I can't play it while playing guitar. Actually 11, since the kids' harmonica isn't very playable.
And what do I play? Mostly covers of Dylan tunes, for now, mainly because there are some good ones that can be played on a G harp without transposing.
